I Comet Chatter The Sioux County Index-Reporter Wednesday, January 27, 2010 It's Cindy Fitzgerald Appreciation Day Second grade students helped celebrate 30 plus years of teaching with their teacher, Ms. Fitzgerald on Thursday, January 14. Students showed their appreciation for Ms. Fitzgerald by throwing her a surprise going-away party. They made a huge banner to hang in the class- room and brought many goodies to share. Ms. Fitzgerald will be greatly missed as she embarks on a new adventure in life with the Iowa State Education Association. reSubmitted photo, special to the Sioux County Index-Reporter LOOK... at the size of this snow pile Kindergarteners in Mrs. Te Slaa's class bundle up and brave the cold for recess. Bullying seems to be a hot topic these days and no mat- ter where you live or how old you are, you have had some kind of experience with a bully. Students at BHES have been learning about bullies during their guidance times and had some additional support from the TAG group in rein- forcing the information. The Jr. High TAG group gained experience as they read and studied the book Life Strategies for Dealing with Bullies by Jay Mc Graw during their class time They then put that knowl- edge into presentations that they share with the fifth and sixth graders at BHES dur- ing their guidance time. Through Powerpoint pre- sentations, Smartboard technology, and the willing- ness of students to share their time and information, the fifth and sixth graders were able to hear first hand what bullying looks like, things to look for in your- self to check if you are bul- lying and then ways to combat it. Great message, great information and great job! .... ~:TL. 77, i~7 ............ ~ " ......
