On Thursday, February 4, at 6:38 a.m., the Sioux County Sheriff's Office investigated a one vehicle accident that occurred on Highway 60, in the northbound lane, six miles southwest of Orange City. Cheryl Kass, age 24, of Le Mars, was driving a 2003 Chrysler Sebring northbound on Highway 60 when she lost control of her vehicle which slid into the median. No injuries were reported; Kass was wearing her seatbelt. There was approximately $1,200 damage to the vehicle. Kass was cited for Failure to Maintain Control. On Thursday, February 4, at 5:33 a.m., the Sioux County Sheriff's Office investigated a one vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Highway 10 and Kennedy Avenue, on the east edge of Alton. Nancy Peterson; age 36, of Sutherland, was driving a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee westbound on Highway 10 when she lost control of her vehicle. The vehicle landed on its top. No injuries were reported; Peterson was wearing her seatbelt. Peterson's vehicle was considered a total loss with approximately $10,000 damage. Peterson was cited for Failure to Maintain Control. On Saturday, February 6, at 10:57 a.m., the Sioux County Sherriff's Office investigated a two vehicle accident that occurred four miles south of Sioux Center on Highway 75. Blanca Mayoroga, age 33, of South Sioux City, Neb., was driv- ing a 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis northbound on Highway 75. Chad Olson, age 37, of Orange City, was driving a 2002 Ford F150 west- bound on 440th Street. Olson was unable to stop at the intersection, and slid side- ways onto Highway 75, striking Mayoroga in the middle of the intersection. All occupants were wearing their seatbelts, and no injuries were reported. Mayoroga's vehicle sustained approximately $2,000 dam- age, and Olson's truck sustained approximately $500 damage. Olson was cited for failure to yield upon entering a highway. On Saturday, February 6, at 11:20 .p.m, the Sioux County Sheriff's Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred two miles east of Sioux Center on 13-40. Taylor VanEngen, age 19 of Doon, was driving a 2000 Chevy Blazer westbound on B-40 when he lost control of his vehicle and entered the south ditch, where the vehicle rolled. VanEngen received minor inju- ries which did not require immedi- ate treatment; seatbelts were in use. The Blazer received $3,000 in damages. On Sunday, February 7, at 8:20 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff's Office investigated a single vehicle accident that occurred at Hwy 60 and Lily Avenue, two miles south of Hospers. Doreen Barta age 55of Cottage Grove, Minn. was driving a 2006 Toyota Rav4 southbound on Hwy .60 when she lost control of her vehicle; it entered the median where it rolled several times and came to rest on its side. Barta was taken to the Orange City Hospital by the Hospers Ambulance where she was treated for minor injuries. Barta was wear- ing her seatbelt. Barta's vehicle received approx- imately $11,000 damage. The Sioux County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the Hospers Fire, Ambulance, and the Iowa State Patrol. On Saturday, February 6, at 11:42 a.m., the Sioux County Sheriff's Office responded to 622 Pine Street in Granville, for a SHERIFF'S REPORT reported residential burglary. Upon further investigation it was found that the perpetrator gained access to the home through a basement window. Items taken include cash and calling cards. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sioux County Sheriff's Office. On Monday, February 8, at 7:56 p.m. the Sioux County Sheriff's Office investigated an accident that occurred near the intersection of Highway 10 and Dogwood Avenue, six miles east of Hawarden. Michael Clark, age 48, of Mission Hilt, S.D. was westbound on Highway 10 driving a 2006 Ford Escape. Clark lost control of the vehicle, which rolled several times into the south ditch of Highway 10 and came to rest in a field. Clark received minor injuries but refused medical treatment. Teresa Rascon?Aguayo, age 34, of Sloan, was a passenger in the Clark vehicle; she also received minor injuries and also refused medical attention. The Ford Escape sustained approximately $5,000 damage. Clark was cited for failure to main- Office investigated a motor vehicle acciedent that occurred two miles west of Hull, on Hwy. 18. Daniel Dominguez, age 27, of Grandview, Mo. was driving a 1997 Jeep westbound on Hwy 18. He was attempting to pass a 96 Buick driven by Wilbert Jacob, age 85, of Rock Valley. Dominguez lost control of his vehicle and was struck by the Jacob vehicle. No injuries were reported. The Jeep sustained $1,000 in damages and the Buick $2,900 in damages. Dominguez was cited for oper- ating without a license and failure to prove financial liability. On Tuesday, February 9, at 4:40 p.m. the Sioux County Sheriff's Office investigated a one vehicle accident that occurred one half mile east of Alton on Highway 10. Maretta Budden, age 61, of rural Granville, was.driving a 2003 Chevrolet Blazer eastbound on Hwy. 10 when she lost control of it. The vehicle rolled and came to rest on its side in a farm field south of the highway. Damage to the vehicle was'esti- On Tuesday, February 9, at 5:20 a.m., the Sioux County Sheriff's Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Hwy. 10, one mile north of Hawarden. Gary Blake, 58, of Hawarden was driving a 1995 Chevy Berretta northbound on Hwy. 10 when he lost control of his vehicle, which rolled into the east ditch. Blake received minor injuries but did not require immediate medical treatment. He was wear- ing his seat belt at the time of the incident. The vehicle sustained about $2,000 in damage. On Tuesday, February 9, at 3:33 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff's mated at $8,000. The Sheriff's Office was assist- ed by the Alton Fire Department and Alton Ambulance. On Tuesday, February 9, at 4:42 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff's Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred at the inter- section of Maple St. and 2nd St. in Hull. Patricia Miller, age 57, of Dawson, Minn. was driving a 1996 Chev Corsica southbound on Maple Street. Connie Kroese, age 48, of Hull was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Impala eastbound on 2nd Street. The vehicles collided in the intersection. No injuries were reported. Miller's 1996 Chev Corsica sus- tained $2,000 damage while Kroese's Chev Impala sustained $2,800 damages. Miller was cited for failure to yield. On Wednesday, February 10, at 10:35 a.m. the Sioux County Sheriff's Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred one half mile south of Alton on Highway 60. Sharla Wohlert, age 56, of Sheldon, was driviag a 1998 Toyota southbound on Hwy. 60 when she lost control of her vehi- cle, which entered the west ditch where it came to rest. Wohlert was transported to the Orange City Area Health System by the Alton ambulance for injuries sustained. The car sustained minor dam- age. The Alton Fire Department and Alton Ambulance assisted the sheriff's office at the scene. On Wednesday, February 10, the Sioux County Sheriff's Office, acting on an anonymous tip, arrested a 20- year-old Mexican National for Identity Theft and three counts of Forgery, all Class "D" Felonies. Maria Berenice FIores-Curiel,. age 20, currently of Hawarden, was employed at Sioux Preme Packing Co, a rural Sioux Center business. Flores-Curiel allegedly used the Social Security number and iden- tity of another person to gain that employment. FIores-Curiel was arrested at Sioux Preme Packing Co. at 2:30 p.m. and booked into the Sioux County Jail. RECENT ARRESTS Gregg Brian Martin, 50, of Hospers was arrested on .Thursday, February 4, and charged with disorderly conduct. , Daoie! Guerre:Barocio, 29, of Denison was arrested on Saturday, February 6, and charged with assault without intent to injure. Jamie Lee Louwerse, 20, of Hull was arrested on Sunday, February 7, and charged with out of county warrant. Connie Jo Cries, 49, of LeMars was arrested on Monday, February 8, and charged with probation violation. Anthony Thomas Cooper, 22, of Rock Valley was arrested on Wednesday, February 10, and charged with failure to appear. Maria Bernice Flores-Curiel, 20, of Hawarden was arrested on Wednesday, February 10, and charged with identity theft and forgery. Editor's Note: An arrest is an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
