Members present: Jake Ten Haken, Ooug Reuvers, Mark Nilles. Jason Moser and Aric Van Voorst arrived after the meeting was called to order. Others present: Superintendent Steve Grond, Secondary Principal Dan Pottebaum, Elementary Principal Tom Kerr, Business Manager/Board Secretary Lori Hoven. Jake Ten Haken welcomed viSi- tors and guests: Darwin Van Otterloo, Dwight Sipma, Beth Sipma, Analy Dominguez, Brian Hulley, Kaitlynn Marks, Jenna Ribbens, Jenna Vande Street, Emily Te Slaa, Pablo Caldera Garcia, Cathryn Carney and Kendra Van Meeteren The board of directors received and acknowledged oral comments from the following people: Beth Sipma. Director Niiles moved and Director Ruevers seconded to approve the agen- da with the addition of a theater prog- ress walkthrough. Four ayes; motion carried. Director Nilles moved and Director Ten Haken seconded the documents submitted in the consent section of the agenda be approved and/or filed as submitted. Four ayes; motion carried. Director Nilles moved and Director Moser seconded to hire Harold Tiedeman as a part-time custodian and shuttle driver with payment based on the salary schedules and also adding 2 hours per week to Bob Oostra's custo- dial schedule. Four ayes; motion carried Director Nilles moved and Director Moser seconded to hire Dan Pottebaum as JV Girls Basketball Coach. Four ayes; motion carried. Director Nilles moved and Ruevers seconded to hire Matt Van Vorst as Junior High Cross Country Coach. Three ayes; one nay: motion carried. Darwin Van Otterioo appeared to accept the Board's response to the SIAC recommendations. Director Moser moved and Director Nilles seconded to approve the football sharing program with Rock Valley as presented for the period of two years. Four ayes; motion carried. Director Moser moved and Director Nilles seconded to approve the pur- chase of a 600C Fortinet Firewall with three year 8x5 support for the purchase price of SI 3,250. Four ayes; motion car- ried. Cathryn Carney, secondary sci- ence instructor, appeared to introduce herself to the board and shared back- ground information about herself and some of the current projects her stu- dents are working on. Superintendent Grond presented proposed changes to the district's Emergency Response Plan for the board's review. Changes will be acted upon at the next regular board meet- ing. Discussion was held regarding upcoming plans for a board strategic planning session. Discussion was held regarding a proposed new evaluation tool to be implemented for the superintendent and principal reviews. Reports were heard from the super- intendent, business manager and build- ing principals. The board did a walkthrough of the theater renovation project.
